What a gorgeous summer's day it is today in Wellington! There's almost no wind, the water is flat, and you can see for miles, all the way up the Hutt Valley and beyond.
It's a real pleasure to take a break from unpacking and organising things just to have a look out of the window and watch the ships coming in and out of the harbour -- and the planes coming in and out of the airport. (Mostly in, at the moment, since planes are landing to ths south.)
I'm also entirely enthralled by the Live Ships Map from MarineTraffic.com, which is a Google Maps layer that shows what's floating about. (That's how I know what the ship's name is. My camera's zoom is pretty good, but not that good.
